New Hire Checklist

Congratulations on your hire, and welcome to Memorial Hermann!

We are ready to get you on board as quickly as possible, but before we can, there are a few things you need to do. The New Hire Checklist below contains the important steps required to become a new employee of Memorial Hermann Health System.

Understanding the roadmap to your first day will help you successfully complete the steps required during the onboarding process. We want you to be informed about what to expect, what not to expect and how to avoid potential delays.

Memorial Hermann requires that all employees complete a background check and a pre-employment health screening as first steps in the onboarding process. The background check and the pre-employment health screening occur at the same time and determine your employment eligibility. You cannot move forward in the onboarding process until BOTH are complete.

Background Check
Employee Health – New Hire Service Center
Employee Health – LabCorp

Your role may require licenses and certifications as minimum qualifications and/or to meet regulatory requirements. You must provide copies of these prior to scheduling your first day at Memorial Hermann.

Great news! Upon successful completion of both the background check and pre-employment health screening, New Hire Services will contact you and inform you that you have been determined eligible to hire and move forward in the onboarding process.

Once you have been determined eligible to hire, it’s time to schedule your official start date with Memorial Hermann! New Hire Services will contact you to discuss any relevant factors that might impact your start date. Then it’s time to mark the calendar with an official start date. We will be in touch with your supervisor, too.

Now that you have scheduled your first day, you will receive a communication from us that will indicate how to log in to our HRIS system, Workday. Then you can complete the remaining important steps in the pre-boarding process.

Once you have confirmed your first day, you will receive your login information for Workday, our HR system, within 24 hours. You will then be able to complete the Workday Onboarding Tour, in which you will confirm your personal and contact information.

During the onboarding process, you will receive access to Guardian/LawLogix to complete Section 1 of the Form I-9. If you are a remote new hire, you will authorize a representative to complete Section 2 of the Form I-9 on Memorial Hermann’s behalf.

Now that you have completed your Workday Onboarding Tour and Section 1 of the I-9, you are ready to start! You’ll receive a communication from us detailing your start date, and orientation details.

You will receive two emails from LawLogix instructing you to complete Section 1 of the Form I-9, which is required by the federal government. You’ll also find links to information about important documents you need to submit to complete Section 2 and prove your identity and authorization to work in the U.S. Be prepared ahead of time! Be sure to have completed your part of the Form I-9 online and make sure you bring the correct federally required documentation. Visit the official government website to see examples of acceptable documents. Section 2 of the Form I-9 must be completed within three business days of your start date. Please note: Memorial Hermann does not participate in the electronic program E-Verify. At the time in which you may need to renew your work authorization documentation, we will be unable to provide you an E-Verify number.
