You may choose to elect additional benefits to protect yourself from unexpected financial hardship. If you enroll in any of these benefits, you pay for the cost through paycheck deductions. For the programs listed here, except the Group Legal Plan, select the Additional Voluntary Benefits link in Workday to enroll.

The MetLife Group Legal Plan comes with access to expert legal advice for personal legal matters like wills, traffic ticket defense, real estate transactions and more. You can enroll in the legal plan as you complete the enrollment process in Workday. 

Coverage basics:

  • Available to full-time and part-time employees
  • When you enroll, coverage applies to you, your spouse and your eligible dependents

Covered legal services include:

  • Family law (e.g., divorce or adoption)
  • Wills and estates
  • Debt matters
  • Traffic defense
  • Real estate
  • Document preparation, such as affidavits, deeds, demand letters, mortgages, promissory notes and elder law matters
  • Injury and insurance issues
  • Immigration assistance
  • Identity theft defense
  • Criminal defense

Pre-existing legal issues are not covered under the plan.

If you enroll and suffer a covered accident, you’ll receive a cash benefit to help pay your expenses. 

Regardless of other coverage, the Group Accident Plan, offered by MetLife, will pay a cash benefit directly to you. You can use the money any way you choose: to pay out-of-pocket medical expenses or your mortgage, rent, car payments, utility bills or any other expense that will help you and your family financially during this difficult time.

Receive a cash benefit if you’re diagnosed with a critical illness, such as cancer, heart attack or stroke.

If you enroll and are diagnosed with a covered illness, the Critical Illness Plan, offered by MetLife, will pay a cash benefit directly to you. You can use the money any way you choose: to pay out-of-pocket medical expenses or your mortgage, rent, car payments, utility bills or any other expense that will help you and your family financially during this difficult time. 

You can choose a benefit amount of either  $15,000 or $30,000.

Plan highlights

  • Available to full-time and part-time employees.
  • No separation/suspension period for covered conditions.
  • You may be eligible for more than one payment if you’re diagnosed with another eligible condition.
  • In addition, you may receive another payment for a second occurrence of the same condition, if the occurrences are separated by at least 180 days. 
  • The plan offers an increased wellness benefit that pays $75 when you receive certain preventive care.
    • There’s a three-month waiting period before you are eligible for this benefit.
  • Your benefit is reduced as you age:
    • By 25% for those age 65 to 69 
    • By 50% for those age 70 and older
